Nashik - Maharashtra

Nashik or Nasik is a city in Maharashtra, India. Nashik is located northwest of Maharashtra, 180 km from Mumbai and 202 km from Pune. Nashik is the administrative headquarters of Nashik district and Nashik Division. Nashik, which has been referred to as the "Wine Capital of India", or as India’s Napa Valley, is located in the Western Ghats, on the western edge of the Deccan peninsula on the banks of the Godavari. In addition to supplying the name to the famed Nassak Diamond, the city is known for its picturesque surroundings and pleasant climate. The Godavari River flows through Nashik from its source, which lies to the southwest of the city, in Trimbakeshwar. Nashik Urban Agglomeration (Nashik UA) has a population of 1,629,769 according to census 2011. and a total area of 264.23 km² which makes it the fourth-largest urban area in Maharashtra in terms of population. Nashik is the third most industrialized city in Maharashtra after Mumbai and Pune.

Industry

The HAL plant is an aircraft manufacturing plant located 10 miles (16 km) from Nashik employing about 7000 people. The Currency Note Press and Security Press are also in Nashik Road Prints Govt Stamp and Indian Currency. Manufacturers who have set up plants in the Nashik MIDC area include Bosch India - previously MICO Bosch, Mahindra and Mahindra, CEAT, Thyssen Krupp, Samsonite, Atlas Copco, Crompton Greaves, ABB, GlaxoSmithKline, Cipla, Glenmark pharmaceuticals L&T, Schneider Electric, Jindal Steel, Garware, Gabriel India, Lear Corporation, Excello India, Kirloskar, IBP, Coca Cola, Siemens, Epcos, EATON, Shalimar Paints, Hindustan National Glass Ltd, Mylan Lab Ltd.Sharda Motors, Jyoti Structures, etc few to name.

Recently the Government of Maharashtra decided to prepare IT parks in the city of Nashik. Nashik is also emerging as a Business process outsourcing (BPO/IT) destination and is on the list of the selected Tier-II cities for BPO/IT companies. Currently, there is One Private IT Park Named Vascon IT Park, Another IT Park is at Ambad named Anand IT/Business Park Constructed by the Mahendra Bachhav Group. ESDS Software Ltd, GloStream and Hostgator India, WNS, Winjit Technologies are a few of the IT Companies in Nashik.

Indiabulls is setting up a Multipurpose SEZ at Sinnar near Nasik named Neo city SEZ over an area of 2500 hectares. It is the first and largest multipurpose SEZ in Maharashtra. This will also increase a large number of industries.[citation needed] Nashik has Two Thermal Power Plants 1.NTPC Eklahare Nashik 2.Indiabulls Power Ltd Sinnar also Suzlon energy has Windmill power generation in Sinnar.
